Chicken 'Not So' Little Fin by MumboJumbo Chicken 'Not So' Little Fin by MumboJumbo
Fin!

**Copied from other post**

Basically, a munny is a blank vinyl doll that you can customize. Most people paint designs on them and are super creative with them. This is my take on the munny. It still has the general shape of a munny, I just cut off the ears, added legs (wire for that) where the munny's feet would be and Sculpted the rest with super sculpey!!

The idea kind of evolved as I was working on it, I was just going to do a nice chicken little look a like, but then it got an evil twist hahah, No chickens were harmed in making this, I promise

I did all the sculpting, and my co-worker/amazing talented friend Clayton Stillwell ( [link] Go check out his site!!!) helped me out with painting it.

**I'm still in the process of responding to all the kind and supportive comments please bare with me :)**

FYI!!!!!!!

This is for a "munny" show called Art Toy Alchemists...that is in Anaheim, California. From June 2-17. Those who are close by should go check it out!! I hear there are about 50 artists participating and the customized pieces are amazing so far!

Artifact Unmundane
1170 N. Richfield Rd.
Anaheim, CA. 92807

That's it for now!

Hey there, yes that was the company that put the munny show together. I participated in this, but it wasn't a competition, it was just to sell the pieces to collectors I guess :) Good luck in your show! I really love working on munnys!

- them cannibals always say it tastes like chicken, now y'know it's true!

heheh, very cool, and nicely-adapted - s'a good little notion, that makeyerownmunny thing... I bet them munny-makers are making money, hohho :p

but yeah, very well done, nice and crisp-looking stuff :D

Hey there! Thanks for the kind words! Yeah I think that the munny is getting its money's worth :D Getting pretty popular. Have you done one yet?

Another thing, how do you pack your sculpts so they don't break? I double boxed this guy and bubble wrapped the heck out of it...but fedex still broke it. :( Maybe I should have used peanuts

- nahh, haven't done one thus far - another thing on the long list of must-get-round-to's, hohum.

...non-breaking sculpts? Yep, the eternal question for those in our line of work, eh? To be honest, I think I've only ever had one, out of many many many sculpts sent out by standard carriers, that didn't get busted on the way to where it was going - no matter what the promises made by just about whichever carrier you use, it always comes down to the guy driving the van that day, and it's rarely someone you'd really trust to take the care they ought to - where we are at work we get deliveries from all sorts of places and when we give a hand to unload you see these berks just tossing other stuff around to get at the parcels they've brought for us - whether they're labelled 'fragile', 'this way up', or any such thing that you'd think might give 'em a clue as to the fact the contents just might need a bit more care, but nope, 'fraid not...

- but anyway - even though I've bubble-wrapped, then lined the box with poly-chips, double-boxed - with the inner box bubbled too, and the outer box likewise filled with poly-chips, (I even triple-boxed a sculpt once, but no luck there either!) the things still end up getting cracked at the very least - fortunately the majority of producers I've worked for that end up moulding/casting such things have first of all an understanding of such problems, and secondly have folks at their end capable of doing the necessary fix-ups. Of course that's not really applicable to privately commissioned pieces unfortunately, and has been the cause of more than a few upsets for both parties - wherever possible I'll try to use an independent courier as they're usually much more careful and reliable - i.e. somebody who basically will run items to the address by way of their own car, rather than packing it badly in amongst a bunch of other stuff to rattle about in the back of a van - of course though this ends up costing somewhat more than standard carriers (ups, fedex and what have you), but that's often outweighed by the bother and hassle of refunding and/or having to re-ship, or pay return costs for busted pieces. It's one of them damned-if-you-do sorta scenarios, I'm afraid :(

Worse still is sending something overseas, 'cause the customs always unpack the thing, no matter how detailed the description (i.e. 'contains metal parts', 'very fragile artwork', etc.), and then just shove it back into the box, and then it gets passed onto ups or whoever, so it gets a double-whammy of damage. Arg.

...anyway, sorry to waffle on so.
